In the rainy and lush landscapes of northeastern Turkey, the Kaçkar mountains form the northern section of the Anatolian mountain chain. The Kaçkar rise in between the shores of the Black Sea to the north and the River Coruh valley to the south The Kaçkar – Kavron summit, at an altitude of 3.932 meters, is the highest point in the range. Extensive glacier and water erosion have given these mountains their craggy, rugged look, and they are known for the complexity and power of the streams and rivers which rush down to the lower altitudes.

 

 

PROGRAMME

Day 1

Flight from your country to Istanbul

Change to domestic flight Istanbul – Erzurum

Meeting with guide at the airport in Erzurum

Transport by bus to Yaylalar, check in guest house, dinner

 

Day 2

Breakfast in guest house

Trekking over magnificent flower grasslands and  mountain lakes around the village of Yaylalar (hiking time about 3 – 4 hours, packed lunch)

Dinner in guest house

 

Day 3

Breakfast in guest house

Trekking in another valley around Mount Bulut through colourful alpine grasslands (hiking time about 3 – 4 hours, packed lunch)

Dinner in guest house

 

Day 4

Breakfast in guest house

Trekking around mountain lake Deniz with a fascinating view over the surrounding mountain landscape (hiking time about 3 – 4 hours, packed lunch)

Day 5

Transport by bus to airport in Erzurum, flight to Istanbul
